It is.
And The Idler Wheel is a lot better than Extraordinary Machine to my ears, but still not as good as When the Pawn.

according to metacritic each album was better than the one that preceded it, so I guess this conversation is over.

I think part of my issue with idler wheel was that I wanted it/was expecting it to sound like extraordinary machines. I'm listening to it now and while the difference in styles is still pretty sharp, it isn't impacting my experience the way it did when it came out.
