im sure Kevin Shields was expecting this reaction to the new album, it came out 2 months ago and nobody is really talking about it, thats how much of a footnote MBV has become.
The record is great though.

The album was released with no advance fanfare, I think things went exactly as the band wanted. Perhaps it's my perception, but the record seemed to make a fairly dramatic impact among people I know who are into that kind of stuff, especially for such a low-key release.

yeah i that sense, it was exactly what they wanted..still the MBV being a footnote, im guessing that´s what kevin shields went for all this years....delaying this record so much in order to lose the momentum and just become the indie band again.
Its just a feeling i got when i remember Kevin talking about music, specially in the 90s when he kinda disappeared.

Looks like a local festival here just nabbed them to headline. Needless to say, I will be there, even if the venue sucks. Awesome, awesome lineup!

It's pretty cheap, too. $99 for both days. It used to be even cheaper, but I will pay a little more for higher quality talent.

Fucking hell!
(FYI, I paid that much just to see My Bloody Valentine in a small-ish theatre here earlier this year.)

The sonic spaces carved in that new(ish) MBV LP continue to haunt my thoughts.
Really glad these guys are doing things again.

Whole bunch of indie stuff I've never even heard of on that bill. I'd love to see a few of them, though. I'm surprised to see Baroness buried so far down the list. Regarding TV on the Radio, can anyone report a positive experience seeing them live? I saw them in open air. The sound was absolute garbage and they didn't seem to even want to be there. Very disappointing.

re: TV on the Radio: I've never really listened to their records but I watched a bit of their set at the Big Day Out a few years back (the one Neil Young headlined) and left after a few songs, I wasn't into it at all.

i've seen them once, and it was very disappointing.
MBV, however, has a similar effect on me as it does on spencer

Still don't know what to think of M B V. I love some songs but some stuff make me kind of uncomfortable. she found now and who sees you are two of my highlights. I will revisit this record tonight or tomorrow and see how it changed for me. It sure is a unique record.
