I don't see how it's any more "sad" than Faith No More getting back together. Or Pearl Jam continuing to make music. Or The Rolling Stones continuing to tour. Are those "sad" too?

Some yes, some no.

Generally speaking I can respect bands/artists who keep it going for a long time vs. bands that break up for 15 years and then do a reunion tour for cash.

People/bands like Johnny Cash for example...guy was great for his entire musical career and well respected. I feel the same way about Pearl Jam because I think they have aged/grown naturally and not gotten outside of themselves.

I loved Smashing Pumpkins back in the 90s. Then they broke up...fell off the face of the earth...then I saw them on the Oceania tour and it was pretty lame. Wish I hadn't gone.

That being said there are, of course, exceptions to every rule. I am glad to see Jerry Cantrell keeping it going with Alice In Chains. That's a bit of a different story with Layne's death and all. On the flipside I have never seen the Rolling Stones or Aerosmith live but they both seem to be trying way too hard with their looks/image and those fucking guys are all just too old now.

Alice in chains coming back is a different story...i dont see Hole as a "band" really. Even in the 90s.

I love the fact that the rolling stones is still doing their shtick, and are totally unembarrassed about it.

With the caveat that their shows are still good shows, obviously. And I don't know if they are.

I'm pretty sure Mick stopped singing around '82 and just does his shouting in sorta tune thing live. It's not for me.
