It's gonna be hard but I think I'm going to wait until the official release rather than seek out a shitty bitrate stream.

Anyone figured out a better option for purchasing the Deluxe LP and shipping internationally? Best I can see is £19.99 + £10 postage on whatrecords.co.uk (approx AU$58)

Album is great. I love this band, and silly as it may be, I have been worried about this one not being very good after seven great ones and all the time off. I just didn't want to see a dud in their stellar body of work. But after 3 listens I can easily say this fits right in there with their best stuff. They sound like better musicians than ever. There is lots of cool stuff going on in these songs--some killer tension,...the return of Corin-Carrie vocal chemistry. Fangless is up there with my favorite Carrie-centric songs--it's relentless. And Fade is so, so good. It's as heavy as anything on the Woods, but tighter and more interesting. I am thrilled they decided to get back together. I can't believe they pulled off such a great album this far into their careers.

The second side of this record is as good as any in recent memory.

NY Times article
“It was good that we wrote it in secret and that we didn’t have to worry about what other people thought,” Ms. Tucker said over lunch at a downtown Portland bowling alley. “But we also didn’t have anyone else’s input. We just knew what we wanted to make ourselves happy. There are no slow songs on the record, and we didn’t plan that. But we were like a horse that was in its stable, ready to go — ‘We’re in this band again, Oh my God!’ ”

I caved and listened to the leak - couldn't resist.

Any apprehensions I had about about this failing to live up to their lofty standards were blown away by the time I got to Fangless. In love with this album already - it's urgent yet quirky, groovy yet tight, catchy yet satisfying - what a band.

I'm waiting for the LP to arrive. A new thing for me to do. I'm so behind on music I've bought, it can wait.

But I'm soooo excited!

I'm not taking the plunge until the album comes out. And I'm still pissed at how bad the pre-sale system was for their tour. I assume there will be warmup shows in Portland before they start touring, but I've heard absolutely nothing about them so far.

Those warm up shows will probably be pretty celebrity packed

I really hope i can see them live sometime. I just adore them and the new album is great.

Better than the Woods? Nope; but still great.

Two girls, two guitars! (no bass)

I love how even though this album is so immediate and familiar, it still breaks new ground for them and has many unexpected left-turns - the System Of A Down-esque breakdown in Fade is tops :nice:

"System of a Down-esque"

Finally, something negative about this album. It was starting to feel unbalanced.
