Let me do this then: Most Tom Waits ballads bore the fuck out of me.
How about this: Tom Waits annoys the fuck out of me. You aren't the only one.
I can't get into him at all
He sounds like he is smashed outta his mind in every song

Unpopular opinions about Tom Waits are unpopular for a reason...

That is one of the stupidest loads of horseshit I've heard in ages.

Alright then, while we're at it, I find very little enjoyment in the collected works of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello and (to a lesser extent) the Beach Boys.
At the risk of mortally offending Varis and great swathes of my fellow countrymen, I can't stand Paul Kelly.

Nothing Nirvana ever did and nothing Nirvana ever was could be described using the word "important" or the phrase "changed the world."

This could arguably be said about any band ever.

Retracted. What was I thinking?
This could arguably be said about any band ever.
I agree with this. The most obvious disagreement would probably come in the form of the Beatles. But while they could be considered to be the largest worldwide cultural event in history up to that point (religion notwithstanding...the comparison to which John infamously noted), I would say that they were neither "cause" nor "important." Rather, the event that was the arrival of the Beatles helped to mile-mark the beginning of youth as a dominant cultural force, as well as jumpstart the music industry into something more than just "a part of showbiz" and a good way to vet future movie stars (which is what it was thought of at the time) and give the first taste of how the expanse of mass-media was going to change the way entertainment was processed and responded to.
Basically, I'm saying it set the stage for Justin Bieber and the Kiss Army. I don't quite know who to blame for Ten Club candles.

They were also the best at what they did and they were always a step ahead of everyone else, at least up until Sgt. Pepper. That always helps.
