Re: Alice in Chains
I prefer their songs with most/all the sludge removed...their acoustic EPs and the poppier songs on Dirt are by far their favorite works of mine. I would have much rather seen them go in that direction had Layne lived instead of Tripod (minus Over Now amongst some others). And I loved their whole Unplugged, that album was aces.

I prefer the studio version, its spookier sounding but both love both unplugged and studio. Its rare a song as long as Frogs can hold my interest.Dev wrote:Frogs is the best thing ever

Re: Alice in Chains
I get what you're saying Them Bones is pretty poppy too. Compare a single like Them Bones to a dirge like Grind, which I think was the lead single off of the Tripod album....

Re: Alice in Chains
i woudnt call them poppy, but i get it.
i was surprised on how the two jerry cantrell songs from Tripod are the most " poppy" from the whole album.

Poppy vs poppier...the "ier" makes it relative.

Re: Alice in Chains
Been listening to some of their music including their last record and im getting exited about the new album.
Even if its generic rock, its really nice we are getting a new album from these guys.

I wish I could like it more, but the screw up in the final chorus annoys me every time where Jerry and Layne sing a different word - somebody messes up.Whitey McTeeth wrote:I love Got me Wrong...I especially love the version from their Unplugged.VinylGuy wrote:Listening to SAP right now.

Going to see them this month. Not expecting too much. Should be like a Jerry solo show.

I love the separation of their voices in Uplugged's Got Me Wrong...I make that same mistake all the time that they made, so I let it slide.
