The artists he chose from certainly aren't one note. Holy shit that's an eclectic list of artists.

Dream lullabye is a new song too actually. Together with no contestar and maybe a few others they were part of an unreleased field songs type album that was recorded to accompany a movie a few years ago. I forget the movie title now but you can find clips on YouTube including some songs. Including a piano stripped down version of meth blues

that's how I felt about Shiloh town

Gray goes black? That's one of the weakest songs in his catalog. Otherwise it's not necessarily the collection I would have put together, but they are pretty much all defensible choices

Grey goes black is on the 2nd (rarities) cd so it reckon its a different version. Blues for D is also in the second cd because this version has vocals

This interests me very, very much.

I still love the hell out of those first 2 Lanegan solo records.

it's just a much more marginal collection of songs.

Those two are awesome...specially in the context he did them. He was playing this really loud, psychadelic rock and roll with The Trees, and he did those beautifully arranged acoustic albums...really bold move at the time.

I believe it's just the Lonely night song that's already out.
