they have mishandled this franchise so much. The keep trying to make it something it is not.

I dunno. It needed what they gave it and the last one really felt like the original series. I liked that one probably best of the three

they waited so long between movies it kinda killed their momentum.

There are a lot of weird rights issues, too. CBS and Paramount own different parts of it or something. It's probably screwed until they can work that out.

I think the Kelvin timeline is dead though.

Beyond was great, but not particularly Star Trek. The other two I can happily forget.

Honestly, there’s no reason Star Trek needs to be a movie franchise, other than Star Wars and Close Encounters convinced executives there was money to be made. It needs the room to contemplate and follow characters that tv allows far more than it needs big budgets.

I mean they’ve only ever made like 2 1/2 good films.

Beyond was the worst of the three by some margin. When they started with the rock musis as a weapon, that was really bad.
