Let's just leave it at I can barely even bring myself to watch ANY dramatic TV shows in today's climate, and I don't think TV as a whole is doing anything as well as movies in any way that isn't totally superficial and meretricious.
Nobody knows what that word means.

I just thought I'd throw out a response that was worthy of the post.

We're never going to agree on this. So, what's the point? You like terrible movies. Something about the aesthetic of really awful movies movies you and speaks to you. And I respect the shit out of that, even when I don't agree. You're an intelligent guy who can back up his opinions in valid and interesting ways.

So when you result to insults and name-calling it turns me off. Even when I know you're being funny or whatever. When that happens, I reply in kind.

We've had this discussion too many times. You'll always love movies that a great percentage of the population hates for your own, totally valid reasons. But when you dismiss an art form totally out of hand, you sir, are the one acting like a troll. Television has surpassed film. I'm not saying it won't swing back the other way some day. But right now, TV is, pound for pound, far more interesting and challenging than film.

You don't agree. Fine. We probably never will. Just be aware that most people do agree with that sentiment. Not that that invalidates you or anything. Just something to keep in mind.

American TV has sucked the live out of shows for far too long and they're starting to learn their lesson. There has been a notorious amount of "filler" on American TV for a long time. Especially, on the networks. But we're seeing a paradigm shift and that's a very good thing.

fuck you. so much. no. just no.
It's the objective truth, verm. If you're too fucking stupid to understand it, that's your fault.
this is the dumbest post i've ever read and i assume you're trolling
Not at all. It's just in conflict with your own opinion. So you're being a shithead about it. There is literally not a film out there I would rather watch than anything in the movie theaters right now.

TV is by far and away the superior medium.
Dude. No medium can ever be "objectively" better than any other. We're talking about art, here. This is all subjective. And I really hope you're trolling by saying I'm just "too stupid" to understand, because based on our previous discussions, I don't think you actually consider me stupid or a shithead.
A. My "objective" comment was meant as a joke based on all our previous comments. Of course nothing is objective in art.

B. I never said you were "too stupid." Never ever once. And I never will. I said you were being a shithead. Which you are.

You mean when I said "fuck you"? I assumed you would know I was being facetiously exaggeratory. I can cool those jets from now on if it bugs you.

And yeah, we are just in polar opposite camps on this and likely always will be because we obviously want different things from our art. I love movies you think are terrible, you love shows I think are terrible. I think cinema is vastly superior to television, you think television is vastly superior to cinema. We both have our reasons. Neither one of us is right or wrong.
