Colt McCoy looks better than RG3.
That play where he got hurt, he ran then just dropped the ball. Man, he is not very good.
He pretty much looks like that every play. The homers were saying it's the line's fault, and while they didn't play well, McCoy sure did move the rock with that same line.
The thing is, it isn't the line's fault that he dropped the ball. He just... dropped it. No one touched him. Then, because he couldn't handle the ball he had to go to the ground after it and that is when he got hurt. No one's fault but his own.
He makes piss poor choices on almost every play. Cousins / McCoy seem to have a much better grasp of being an NFL QB.

My stepson is a HUGE 'skins fan, so I am always pulling for them for his sake. But even he is getting so irritated with them. If Gruden is the coach next year, there is no possible way they pick up the team option on RGIII for next year, right? No matter how stupid Snyder is? Right?

I wouldn't put it past them. It's as clear as day to me that he should not be the starter. If he starts all 16 games, shows improvement, and the team is at least 8-8, I'll gladly eat crow.
I mean, think about this...RG3's bar is so low that the goal for him is to show slight improvement and a basic understanding of reading defenses, while scanning his available WR options. Tom Brady's goal is another Super Bowl.

Flacco's already thrown two INTs. He should have to pay Rahim Moore about $100,000 every time he throws one.

Mariota looked pretty fucking good on Sunday. I know it was just a preseason game, but he was reading coverages and going through progressions just fine. And he made several plays with his feet. He was impressive.

Very impressive. Like you said, opnly a preseason game, but the Rams' defense is no joke.
I never understood Tampa Bay taking Winston over Mariota. To me, there wasn't even a question. Mariota is obviously better off the field, but better on the field as well.

Dude was 29-1 as a starter, won the Heisman, national title, and was the quarterback for the team that set the record for most points scored in a college football season and has looked very good so far in these preseason games that don't matter a lick. but yeah Mariota, clearly better. Too bad you weren't the Bucs GM. They could have used your objective player analysis.

If over the hill players with violent pasts are en vogue, anyone talking about James Harrison?

Tim Tebow was 34-6 as a starter, won the Heisman and national title, and
set oodles of NCAA and SEC records.
Matt Leinart was 37-2 as a starter, won the Heisman and national title,
and also set oodles of NCAA and Pac-10/12 records.
As you know, I think Winston has a chance to be an excellent NFL player, but a lot of the stats you cited aren't very relevant to NFL success.

He's taller though, and played in a pro style offense. It made more sense for Tampa to take the in state guy anyway. Trying to sell tickets too.
They are both going to struggle and throw a lot of interceptions this year. because the NFL is so much faster.

Those are slightly more relevant reasons, though Leinart played in a pro-style offense too.

Hopefully the one thing that Winston can learn from Glennon is how not to throw interceptions. That is a huge reason I liked Glennon, he didn't make stupid mistakes.

I still feel like Glennon can play and he got a bit of a raw deal. I wouldn't be suprised if he nets some good draft picks in a trade, he and Mettenburger.

Yeah Glennon could start on 4 or 5 teams in the league right now.

True. I like Glennon. I think he can play. That arm is special. Hell if Hoyer and that vessel of a human being McCown can get paid and start for teams than Glennon can start as well. My issues with Glennon: he too often refused to throw the ball downfield and he was awful when a team blitzed. Bad combo. In other words not a playmaker at the QB position. Can't have that if you want to be a playoff team.

Never said they were relevant but I was at least using stats instead of spewing opinion like they were facts. I had a lot more to toss out but I also didn't want to fill a whole page up with facts.
Also, since neither have actually played a real NFL game I'm assuming this assumption on which one is better is based on their play in college so in that regard I do think the stats are relevant.
I'm pretty sure very few saw Tebow or Leinart as prospects with the requisite skill set to be a franchise QB.

Even with slightly less than average arm strength, most thought Leinart would be a solid NFL QB.

Didn't a lot of people have him pegged as the #1 pick in 2005 before he decided to stay in school?
