Politically at least, it's hard to overstate what a complete disaster Merkel's welcoming invite to the world in 2015 was. Eastern Europe has completely rejected it, Italy has turned anti-EU, Greece is still a disaster, France is cracking down, and then there is Brexit. Even Scandinavia is instituting more controls. Now even Germans are rejecting her.
