I'm really excited given the two singles and the other two new songs they've performed live. Bad Decisions and The Adults Are Talking have really fun guitar work.

Just caught up on this. At the Door is okay, kinda goes on way too long, but really digging Bad Decisions. Sounds like vintage Strokes.

Looking forward to this one. Hadn't listened to these guys in quite awhile. Then, the modern age came up on a recent shuffle and I got hooked again.

Bad Decisions is really good. As someone said above, sounds like vintage Strokes.
Brooklyn Bridge is ok. Sounds like Julian's solo album to me, though not as good.
I do think At the Door is bad.

I dig Bad Decisions and At The Door. Although ATD goes on too long. Hopefully it’s a good album.

First listen was pretty underwhelming but I’ll give it more time. Bad Decisions hooked me immediately on first listen. Didn’t get that with any other songs. Some of them seem to drag on a little too long.

That's because youve already heard this song by billy idol.

First listen I didnt love it other than the last two tracks which are FANTASTIC.
I guess I just dont love their synth side. This feels more like a Julian solo album rather than strokes.
That is just 1 listen though....
I really loved Albert's recent album Francis Trouble

tragabigzanda wrote:Part of my problem with the strokes is the same problem I have with Lana Del Ray, The Black Keys and others: I hate when the people behind the music are wholly uninteresting, and they go to great lengths to compose an artistic persona that they believe will be compelling. It’s like I can see the scaffolding behind the artifice.
It’s completely different with someone like David Bowie or Saint Vincent, where the line between the artist and the person is blurry if not altogether invisible.

I can't stand looking at Casablancas face. Ill give you that.
But I dont think the black keys have tried to create a specific persona at all. Not sure where you get that from.
You should listen to patrick carneys interview with rogan. he's a joy.

tragabigzanda wrote:I agree the Keys aren’t trying to create the same sort of visual/stage persona as my other examples. But their billing as a couple of regular guys just making some dirty blues will never sit right when the commercial aspirations are baked into the music and they’re advertising $10K watches.
