Hahaha!
Honestly, I'm so tired of this shit. We've had years where the Oscars go all black, complete with weepy-eyed Oprah moments and all that shit, but then we have a couple of years without a blacktor included in the best actor category and the whole world explodes. Jesus, if there isn't a performance good enough by a blacktor to warrant a nod, then just accept that and move on!
how many blacks live in montreal

If you look at this pragmatically, black people are a minority in the US (12-13%) so given that there are only 5 people in the best actor category that would work out to about 1 blacktor every two years. So we are a little off on the 2014 and 2015 awards, but if you go back to 2012 and 2013 there was Denzel (Flight) and Chiwetal-whats-his-name (12 years a slave), that's 2-in-10 for a 20% incidence rate.
So now we are at 2-in-20 over the last 4 oscars, that's still 10% of best actor nominees, which compared to my original comment about the population is about right.
That was fun!

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Nothing like a buncha middle aged white guys deciding about how black people should feel. Complete with demeaning terms!

Off the top of my head we only got Rachel McAdams in supporting actress.
So that's 1 out of 10 nominees for actresses, and our population is about 1/10th the size of the US.
My theory is sound.

If she were really interested in advancing diversity in Hollywood, she's put her millions of dollars to use producing films that include all manner of minorities.
Using her influence and drawing attention to an issue she cares about is just as important.

No it's not. Putting her money where her mouth is would have way more impact.

the original actress the played Aunt Viv on Fresh Prince posted a video that I am too lazy to look up, but will paraphrase her main points. Will Smith's performance wasn't worthy enough (Idris Elba's was). Also, back when Fresh Prince hit its stride, all the other talent went to Will so they could have solidarity when it came to asking for fair pay raises as the mainly black cast was not being paid as well. Basically, they wanted to do what the Friend's actors did to get pay raises when that show became a hit. Will basically brushed it off as "my contract is my contract and your contract is your contract." So maybe they do have selfish motivations because it affects them personally, but if anyone should have a problem with it, its the people who once asked him for solidarity and received no support, but now he's asking for solidarity because he wasn't nominated.
