Picked up Schmilco and Star Wars LPs this week for $14 total. Star Wars was on sale for $9 on ebay, and I got Schmilco for $5 bc I was able to redeem my frequent customer rewards card at local store :-o

Jay Bennett was really important. The only really great Wilco record post Bennett is AGIB.

Stirratt's bass on "Common Sense" is fantastic.

I think Wilco have exactly two great albums: "YHF" and "Ghost," one with Bennett, one without. He's a great musician and overall I like his playing better than Jorgensen's, but I don't think he's necessarily the deciding factor in the greatness of their records.

They're both good -- too middle-of-the-road for me to consider great.

I feel like I remember liking Sky Blue Sky. Is that wrong?

You just can't beat some of those more aggressive alt/country/rock songs that Tweedy could write in his sleep.

Yeah, so Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost is Born, Sky Blue Sky and Star Wars are the only studio albums of theirs that I've heard. I've also heard their live album.

I should revisist YHF. People seem to love it. And I remember feeling like I'm supposed to love it because everyone does. But I honestly couldn't name you a single song on that record. I own it but I never listen to it.

Thank you.

Its easily digestible alt country/folk/rock with some of the middle period wilco weirdness starting to seep in.
