after being let down by interstellar i'm been craving a good new sci fi flick

Interstellar is flawed as all fuck, but I still loved it. Arrival is a very different film, though.

Sci fi is quickly becoming my favorite genre. I only recently saw Moon for the first time and it blew me away. Ex Machina was bonkers too.

I agree it tackles a wide variety of subjects, but its background of aliens and technology is more than enough to place it in sci fi territory.

The majority of my friends don't want to see it cos they think it's sci fi 'aliens and shit'.

I'm not kidding. Trying to let them know that a huge loss on their part and perhaps the marketing did too good a job on the opposite sense cos lots of sci fi fans won't go cos it's not sci fi enough.


I think this film should be required viewing regardless of your tastes. It's so far beyond a point called good that we've settled for the last decade. This film is brilliant.

It's hard to get large numbers of people to see thought-provoking films. That's why so few of them come out of Hollywood.
