my daughter (2) just wrote her first song. It bears a passing resemblance to the farmer in the dell, but no more than given to fly/going to california

the cow is in the barn
the cow is in the barn
moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo
moo moo moo moo moo moo

I think they could nail it if they don't play it too fast.

Plus, when they nail a song like Mother, it's just a straight on version of a played to death classic rock song, there's nothing special about that.
They play it right be sure as fuck don't nail it.

Another song you'd think would be easy enough to nail but turns out pretty awful is Little Wing. I'm talking about versions from the last decade or so. The one from early in their career is pretty bitchin.

Outside of The Who and Neil Young covers, their classic rock standards have been pretty weak....I'm thinkin like Fortunate Son, All Along the Watchtower. Probably has something to do with them half assing well known songs vs half assing a song I'm not as familiar with.

I think Pearl Jam is a good cover band. They do a good job at it. So much that I think they should start covering Pearl Jam circa 1991-2003.

If I want them to cover something I want it to be a little bit out there. Even if it's a pretty standard song in terms of it's arrangement, I don't need to hear them do another Who or Neil Young or Pink Floyd song. I'm thinking more along the terms of Timeless Melody from the 2k tour. But even then, I don't know how much I'd enjoy it the way Ed sings now.

If Pearl Jam evolved they way I wanted them to, and they way I thought they were evolving in the early aughts, I'd have a nice little list of songs I'd love to hear them perform.
I know you're not a fan of the last couple records, so I'm curious, how would you have wanted them to evolve? I'm not being facetious at all. I ask because I find myself thinking that same thing, like if they had gone in the direction of writing more songs in the vein of Sleight of Hand, Of The Girl, You Are, etc.

It's hard to put my finger on and that's why I ask, but while I think MYM and WWS are fine songs, I am way more interested in their slower (not necessarily "softer") more introspective songs.

I think Pj should cover Bowie's Let's dance.

Ed's voice would be killer on this
