Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
It’s much easier to not worry about what everyone else thinks and just listen to the song. Does it sound good to you? Did it put a smile on your face when it kicked in? That’s all that matters, not what everyone else tells you you’re supposed to think about it.

I don’t really put much stock into everyone’s opinions anymore, and they’re certainly not going to affect whether I like the song or not. I think the song is great and this only makes me more excited for the album and tour.

After sleeping on it, the biggest issue with this song is that it doesn't stick. There's no chorus or refrain or hook. The chorus of DotC stuck with me for a while after I heard it. This doesn't. It's just there. Doesn't exactly beg for a repeated listen.

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
something weird happened as I've been humming this and playing it to myself today
I realised that the happy part was slightly reminiscent of a punk "build me up, buttercup"
this is pleasing me

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
This is not good.
I really liked DOTC and was happy that they were trying new things, but this just seems like an extension of the same stuff we've had since Avocado.
I'm not sure there are any rockers on the last 3 albums that I consider this to better than. My first thoughts were that this was nearly as bad as Supersonic however I've listened to that today and sadly I think even SS is better than this. Dare I say it I think I may even like CDM more (the verses I do, for sure).
It really depends on what the rest of the album is like. I can deal with this as long as the other songs are closer to DOTC in terms of risk and new direction.

i love how they recorded mikes solo as well. Lots of natural ambient room sound in there. Sounds like he's actually wailing away live with the band. Almost like it was mic'd up in a bathroom.

the "superblood wolfmoon" part is pretty earwormy for me. it's too bad everything around it is garbage. cancels out the hookyness.

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
This is okay, nothing special--doesn't challenge me in any way, maybe just an okay song in the vein of the past 2-3 albums.
It's interesting to listen on youtube, SBWM goes right into DOTC, the latter still does it for me, foot tapping, head bopping, groove.
If we get a 3rd single before the album drops, maybe that will give some more info to inform the album, but I'm guessing we aren't going to know anything more until the first show, and even then, I wonder how much of the album will be played before the NYC/Sirius stuff. I assume/hope they play the whole album straight through at the Apollo.

I'm still on the wolf train but the song could definitely use some fixin' during the breakdown in the middle...that part feels flat and doesn't work for me. Other than that I actually like Ed's singing on this although they could probably have throttled him back in the mix some.

It’s a hopping garage dump of a song, and it’s perfectly fine at doing what it wants to do. Its just not doing what a lot of people WANTED it to do.Superblood Wolfmoon wrote:Wall of guitars—check.

It’s got some weird choices, it doesn’t try to package a cathartic guitar solo in what is otherwise a horny musical grunt, there’s feedback squeal and amp fuzz and the production doesn’t gut the life from it (the drums try to, though).
It boggles the mind to think that there are people who consider Getaway a good song, but this track a problem.

I can’t remember the last time I thought the guitars sounded this good on a PJ record.

BoB really neutered this band for the last 10 years.

I'm feeling selfish and I want what's right
I ask for forgiveness, I'm begging myself
feeling angry, now get off the stage
Right now I feel, a lack of innocence searching for reveal
hypnotonic resonance I feel
not much of anything, and the cause is life or death
A life of hopelessness, fucks all your focusedness
I've been hoping that a hope does last
I don't know anything, I question everything
This life I love is going way too fast
Both my eyes are swollen
my face is broken
And I'm hopin that I hurt your
hopin that I hurt you’re
hopin that I hurt you first
She was a stunner, & I am stunned
And the first thought or second thought was 'could be the one'
I was a prisoner, of keys & the cuffs
Yeah I was feeling fortunate to be locked up
But the world got to spinnin, always felt like it was ending
and love not withstanding we are each of us fucked
I'm in danger, feelin in the distance
I can see you when I close my eyes

I think it's "Focus on your focus less." That sorta makes sense and is a good line.
I do wish Ed would drop a syllable/word or seven more often. It's often 50 pounds of potatoes in a 10 pound sack
"Took her WAY to soon" would flow better.
On DotC dropping the word "'cause" from the "I'm in love with clairvoyants..." line would make it less awkward.

It’s pretty cool the way it goes into DOTC right after too. To me this bodes well for the album as a whole.
