But, I’m ready to say that SoF has topped this track. It just oozes quality end to end, while Wes has a few blemishes here and there (stone’s fuzz laced interlude, too much “satisfaakkkshunnnn”, lesser vocal melodies, and Ed’s vocal delivery is not as good as in SoF). To be sure, the second half of Wes is some of their best work. It’s handicapped by the first half, though, to an extent.
I hear you. I think SoF has it beat. But WES is a little shaggy, and for me that's just a little bit more bug than feature. SoF is tight all the way through.

That WES bridge though. What a highlight!

Listened to the first half of Gigaton yesterday and still can't decide where I land in the WES vs SoF debate.

I enjoy both equally - both great openers. SoF is definitely more tightly structured. WES is looser, more "jammier".

I prefer SoF. Both are great.

WES - 3 stars
SoF - 2.5 stars

But I like the lyrics to SoF more.

Maybe Ed’s best post-Binaural Pearl Jam song?
I wouldn't rate it over "Can't Keep" or "Man of the Hour" (and honestly probably not over most of Ed's Riot Act songs, though some of that is personal attachment talking), but I agree -- it's a great tune.
Give me a list of all of Ed's post-Binaural songs and I could tell you where WES ranks. But it ain't #1, I know that for a fact.

I think this is probably true. Only Can't Keep, Man of the Hour, and Severed Hand come close. Maybe Green Disease.

Post Binaural fragile Ed usually works better for me.

I made like a 20 hour PJ playlist recently. Had it on during a three hour drive yesterday. It "shuffle" on the playlist and let the gods decide what came on. At one point, it played WES followed by React, Respond, and it was fucking awesome. Those songs work really well together as a 1/2 punch. So much so, that i might make a new version of Dark Matter than just removes SoF and inserts WES at track one instead.
