Super long and boring. A let down, i thought this was going to be better. Sophie Tatcher was great, she is a star.

Looks fun, but he is clearly aiming for a different thing than the fake trailer he did for Grindhouse.

It does look fun, but I haven’t liked a movie of his since Cabin Fever so I’m not getting my hopes up

I really like Hostel 1 and 2, The Green Inferno and Toc Toc. Death Wish was awful and havent seen The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

Going to reread the short story again but I will say that I'd watch Carla Gugino make coffee so it's on the list.

I finally watched "Talk To Me" the other night; I found it genuinely scary and disturbing for a "mainstream" possession movie and I liked it; maybe not entirely deserving of the hype story-wise (the best parts are the setpieces during the seances, it gets less interesting the further it gets from that concept imo) but I found it to be a really solid movie

The other night me and the Mrs. were just chilling and chatting, the TV was on in the background on mute and i caught the last few seconds of a trailer.....

a couple days later i remembered this moment but in my head i thought it was another Nightmare on Elm Street. I was searching the internet high and low and found nothing about it so realizing i was clearly mistaken, i moved on.

On the couch again last night this trailer came on and turns out it was Pet Semetary. Im into the story but im sure it'll be terrible.

Also see there is yet another fucking Saw movie. Guess ill watch.

yeah, there is a Pet Sematary prequel. Not that interested, but i will watch it yeah. Same with Saw x, i dont care for it, but ill eventually watch it.

the Saw X premise sounds like the most interesting one since the first imo; letting Tobin Bell be the protag is a good idea

yeah sounds awful, but its obvious they need to bring him back somehow. Well be getting stories between the previous movies maybe? They tried to reboot the whole thing twice and it didnt worked so just do a time travel thing

I love revenge stories, so the whole concept of getting revenge at scammers engaging in medical malpractice excites me, not to mention the irony in the whole thing being "medical" / mechanical horror and a serial killer's sense of vigilante justice being a warped one

I mean, no, it's not the cleverest concept in the world but SAW never has been

Just saw El Conde by Pablo Larrain. Some unfocuseness at the last part but pretty good overall. Excellent photography and iconography.

absolutely LOVED "No One Will Save You", I had a grin on my face from beginning to end; it's too early to tell but it might end up being my movie of the year

here's my interpretation:

a lot of people are saying this is a movie about grief with a weird let-down of an ending, but I don't really think this is just about grief, I think it's about (the fantasy of) redemption, which makes sense of the title and a lot of the imagery, as well as that "jarring" change of tone at the end

I think the message (question?) is, "what if aliens were interested in our personal morality? what if the invasion took hold not through some big explosion-filled world event but through their exploitation of our personal guilt? we've seen aliens take our memory (Men in Black), what if they took our guilt, our sin, our responsibility as well?" that is what I took from that tonal shift and that almost obliviously happy dancing at the end; the aliens made everything as if none of it ever happened, but not through a miracle or through spiritual redemption, through a night of terror and violence, where the protagonist has to come face to face not only with what she's done but who she is (her doppelganger)

this to me was a spiritual parable with aliens
