I like Colin Farrell, but I'm iffy on Vince Vaughn. I love Elisabeth Moss. She was just the star of a similarly styled and themed show, which was really good. I'm not sure if that hurts or helps her chances of being in this.

She is extremely talented, but it risks the characters being too similar to the leads in "The Killing".

If Vince Vaughn was one of the cops, I would be more worried. As a flamboyant LA crime boss, I think he fits.

If you give Farrell the right script. He can kill it. He just done a lot of wrong films.

Aren't both Farrell and Vaughn considered better actors than McConnaughey was before TD and Dallas Buyers Club saw the light of day?

Vaughn's dramatic turns have never really worked (Domestic Disturbance, The Cell, Pyscho), but Farrell has some gems on his resume. McConaughey turned a corner around the time of The Lincoln Lawyer a few years ago.

AICN reports McAdams is in.
Rachel McAdams’ “scheduling conflict” has been downgraded to a “potential scheduling conflict,” and it now looks like she’ll be playing lead female character Ani Bezzirides in the upcoming second season of “True Detective.” HBO and the actress’ representatives are said to be currently ironing out details for the role of a tough Monterey sheriff.

Not sure if I like this choice.

Would you both say that the first season of TD was.... a lightning strike that sets you free?

I seem to remember some best actor of his generation talk when McConaughey first burst onto the scene when A Time To Kill came out. Then he did some bad rom coms and started dancing naked with Lance Armstrong while playing the bongos.

Nice.

Still, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can top Alexandra Daddario.

Well, except that Rachel is a superior actress. But somehow I don't think that's what you're talking about.
