Ed Sheeren is so fucking awful. My god. How does this shit happen? Its as mind blowing as trump being president. Fuck.
The Spicer skit definitely wasn't as funny but maybe because it was expected. Definitely too soon to hit that one out of the park again.
The peoples court was weak.
Weekend Update went on about 15 minutes too long.
I actually liked the cheeto skit

Absolute favorite part of the episode. I goddamn loved Zamata's understated "It's George Washington Carver." I laughed for about 10 straight minutes. I made my wife pause and go back. It was fucking brilliant.

Chance the Rapper #2: Cool to see him playing piano, and the energy was again great, but the song was again very bland.
I disagee. I think this was a bad performance of a very good song.

What does "Cold Opening" mean? Do they do those w/o rehearsing? Or does that mean it's the pre-credits opening?

pre-credits, it opens cold without a produced introduction

Yeah that episode sucked. Any momentum a sketch got was quickly killed again bc these writers don't know how to end a skit. They either run a joke into the ground, or it goes on wayyyy too long. I'd rather a few more shorter skits than long drawn out ones.
My favorite part of the entire episode was Jost's terrible U2/Bono joke, bc 1) it was so bad, 2) his reaction to the crowd's reaction, and 3) it was something I would say

The Zooopolis sketch was so fucking bad. I hate these when they do string-of-impression sketches like that.

The material wasn't funny but I thought the girl was pretty good at impressions...the guy wasn't.
