Jones, president of the United Steelworkers 1999, which represents Carrier employees, felt optimistic when Trump announced last week that he’d reached a deal with the factory’s parent company, United Technologies, to preserve 1,100 of the Indianapolis jobs — until the union leader heard from Carrier that only 730 of the production jobs would stay and 550 of his members would lose their livelihoods, after all.

At the Dec. 1 meeting, where Trump was supposed to lay out the details, Jones hoped he would explain himself.

“But he got up there,” Jones said Tuesday, “and, for whatever reason, lied his a-- off.”

He wasn’t sure how these people found his number.

Seems like a reasonable appointment to me. Trump is awful, but that doesn't mean you get to reflex meme everything he does.

“I’ve been doing this job for 30 years, and I’ve heard everything from people who want to burn my house down or shoot me,” he added. “So I take it with a grain of salt and I don’t put a lot of faith in that, and I’m not concerned about it and I’m not getting anybody involved. I can deal with people that make stupid statements and move on.”

Almost as if he understands anonymous death threats are overrated.

Because of his thin skin and need for constant adoration, it's only a matter of time before Trump makes enemies out of the very people who elected him. He really is a pathetic creature.

Still feeling like this guy has no idea of the scope of the job he's been elected to. Sure, he's going through the motions of the cabinet selection, but there still seems to be some real cognitive dissonance going on between the "Thank You" rallies, the diplomatic blunders, etc. I feel like January 20 is going to be a yuuuuge wake-up call to this clown and the closest thing to an "Oh shit what have I gotten myself into?" moment as Trump can have.

It also feels like Democrats, or at least Obama, can see this coming a mile away. This was a tough pill to swallow but in the long run I think a Trump presidency is going to hurt Republicans far more than they realize.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the only way Trump does some measurable "hurt" to Republicans is if their incumbents start to lose in large numbers, especially in governorships and state legislatures. We could have 4 Democratic presidents in a row after Trump, but if GOPers still get to draw district maps in a majority of states, they're not going to really hem and haw too much.

The head of Exxon Mobile is not really being considered for Sec. of State, right?
