At first I was interested in seeing Elton John on his extended farewell tour. But $249 (before fees) for barely decent seats changed my mind.

So far this year, YOB and Voivod in March, Eric B. and Rakim in April and Iron fucking Maiden in August.

Marcus King Band on March 8th at the Capitol Theatre. First show of 2019.

Metric kicked off their tour in Cleveland last night. Fun show even if it dragged a little in the middle. Most of the new stuff sounds good live but I wish I'd seen them ten years ago when Fantasies came out.

I'm paying a decent wad of cash to see a band I haven't really had an interest in since the 90's mainly because we don't get bands of that calibre in town often. See ya tomorrow night Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Last night we went to SymphonySpace uptown and see The Red Room Orchestra play the music of Twin Peaks.

It was awesome and strange and goofy in all the right ways. James Marshall played Just You with Margaret Cho on backing vocals. Then for an encore he covered Voodoo Chile.

That's the kind of night it was.

Ozzy has cancelled his festival appearance so it's now just Slayer, Priest, AIC, Anthrax, Converge, High Tension etc for Downlaod next month

I have one of my two Elton John farewell tour shows next week. I've never seen him before, which is a bit sad on my part given how much I love his catalogue.

If anyone has a chance to catch Elton, I highly recommend it. Fantastic show. Great mix of hits with some deeper cuts. His band is incredible. They're all so in sync with each other.

Me too.. great stuff.. there were times when the entire crowd sang the full odb verses

Ice Cube is playing the Azalea Festival here next month. Think I might head downtown to catch that one.

Metallica and Slipknot are playing here on Halloween. Might put the effort in and head up to Auckland for that one
