The Dixie Chicks show last nigh was outstanding. They put on a fantastic show. Highly recommend checking them out live if you can.

Also, they covered Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U. Natalie Maines was fucking born to sing that song. Holy christ.

I'm FINALLY going to get to scratch off two big time bucket list artists this summer.

Seeing the Dixie Chicks at MSG in about 10 days.

Then Seeing GARTH FUCKING GODDAMN HALLELUJAH BROOKS!!!!!! at Yankee Stadium in July.

Guys, I'm freaking the fuck out. I haven't been this excited about going to see live music in a long, long time. :bammer:
You dislike Paul Simon, yet you like Garth Brooks...

Noted, durds; noted.
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Seems weird to compare and contrast the two when there's plenty of room for both of them.

But let's get one thing straight. I have no beef with Paul Simon. I don't care much for his solo work from Graceland on. Everything before that and especially all of his work with Garfunkel is really good to some of the best music I've ever heard.

From Graceland on he got real into syncopated rhythms and African sounds. There are some great moments in his entire career. But I get bored hearing "So I, I walked into a room and I, I was standing by the food, and a, a girl with brown hair the color of dusty sunset in the back of a -- ooh, ooh -- " stuff just grates on me. And that's the majority of what he fell into. His melodies bore me. His rhythms are repetitive and his lyrics (like most aging artists) took a dive.

But don't think for one minute that I don't like Paul Simon.

I'll spare you my defense of Garth Brooks.

Finally saw Garth last night. I've wanted to see that man live since I was 15 years old. It was an emotional night.
