I'm really surprised by how much I loved this. A very elegant, operatic, sprawling maximalist piece that only Zack Snyder could have made. It takes a number of pleasingly paced narrative detours while staying thematically laser-focused, and just unfurls in a really graceful way. While what WB did to Snyder is awful, I'm almost glad things turned out this way so we could end up with this cut of the movie -- there is no way this was ever going to be released in theaters.
Also, for all my bellyaching, I actually really liked the 4:3 aspect ratio in the end. One of the worst things about the 2017 version was how weirdly cramped it looked, and now it makes total sense -- Snyder composed for this aspect ratio, and the movie looks just beautiful. Some truly stunning sequences here. Good on Snyder for sticking to his guns on this one, I can't imagine what a nightmare it must've been.
There are things I'd change, of course -- Martian Manhunter added nothing, nor did the extra Knightmare sequence at the end with Joker (fuck Leto is just awful) -- but overall I'm really happy with this utterly absurd, sweetly elegiac, gleefully messy oddity.

Good post. I forgot about 4:3 when I was watching the movie. Everything looked great, and I had no problems with it.
I enjoyed the Martian Manhunter scenes, but could have done without the Knightmare sequence.

Also there was a shot of Superman during one of Cyborg's visions that I'm 100% certain was taken straight from Man of Steel and re-purposed here. I guess they decided against tapping Cavill for one single shot.

I couldn't help but think of his daughter at the end of the film during that recorded message. Then her name was in the credits.

the ratio was perfect. And the Knightmare sequence was fucking awesome. I want a full movie of that.

Might finally get around to watching this tonight, or at least part of it. I was gonna watch it last weekend, but my stepsons asked if I could wait till they're back from staying with their dad, so tonight it is.
Does this tie into WandaVision?

WandaVision is Marvel, and Justice League is DC. The short answer is no.

Just listened a bit on what the Ben Affleck Batman“s movie was supposed to be about, and got super exited and sad that we are not going to see it...it was Bruce being super fucked up with Deathstroke killing his people, a mix between Fincher“s The Game and some horror movie.

First half of Snyder cut:
The Whedon version has to be the most unremarkable thing I have ever seen in my life. Literally couldn't remember any of it to try to compare to this one.
