I did this about three weeks ago and all that happened was that I was reminded how short and uninspiring that album actually is. Oh yeah, and the Fixer still really sucks. And so does speed of sound (why not just keep the demo version- so much better) Oh yeah, and Johnny guitar sux. And supersonic. And just breathe.

The End is definitely the highlight, but I think it's only about 50% due to the song, and 50% due to the fact that it actually is the end of the album

infallable-awesomely catchy. the verses have a creep kinda pop feel, and the chorus soars into this almost motown vibe.
getaway-i love the intensity in this one. its not super aggressive, sorta heavy new wave. ed's voice sounds great
yellow moon/swallowed whole-i cant really separate these songs, and i think they are both top notch. they both have a sorta mature folky feel to them ive been wanting from pearl jam. obviously, swallowed whole is the more upbeat version, kinda reminds me of the birds. yellow moon is clearly the more mellow version, and kinda has a pink floyd feel to it. i also think both deal with similar subjects lyrically.
my father's son-pretty intense for one song and two bass'. stone's licks in this song are great, and some of the lyrics are kinda witty too. the bridge outa nowhere is awesome, i love songs that take 2 completely different parts and jam them together
mind your manners-pretty nice attempt at being the dead kennedy's. ed's vocal delivery is pretty cool, not overly aggressive, but proving his point vocally.
let the records play-fun little blues number. not their best attempt at the blues, but i dig it.
sleeping by myself-interesting transformation into a country-ish song. i really like the music, but the lyrics are so fuckin sad.
lightning bolt-its not bad. i think its trying a little too hard to be a classic live pearl jam song
sirens-i listen to it when its on the radio, but never on the cd. overly poppy. i like splitting up "over-whelmed" though
future days-ive probably listened to this song less than 10 times. kinda blows.

I listened to backspacer a few weeks ago and really the only song that suffered a bit was unthought known. I still really love that record

Its on heavy rotation again...the first run of songs is great..i still dont care much for SW but overall this one is great.
Its better than BS ( listened to the four batch of songs today, they are great) and better than RA in my book.

Future Days suck though. Worst closer ever.

I never listen to the actual order of tracks anymore because I can't stand it as the closer. And I find it's far less terrible if it shows up in the middle of the album. I have it as track six between Sirens and Mind Your Manners, and it's just this little thing that happens in the middle. You can half sing along while your mind does something else.

Truly the mark of a great record.

Lightning Bolt is the sibling album to Yield. And, just as good.

the best song on lightning bolt is a song from the backspacer sessions (pendulum), and backspacer is the worst album PJ ever made, but pendulum is one of the best songs PJ has ever made on an album
