Dude's got major Force chops. Maybe he was never in that thrown room at all.
Thats a good point but yeah, he seemed to be there. I mean he was cut in half and then didnt re appeared again in some form. If he was alive i would expect him to appear and kill Kylo.
Oh fucking awesome would it be if he is alive and he haunts Kylo in 9. You've got Snoke haunting him, inside his head, threatening to kill him; basically hunting him and mentally toying with/terrorizing him on one hand. And on the other you've got Force Ghost Luke haunting him and trying to pull him to the light.

Could be some Fuuuuuuun shit there.
I would prefer Snoke haunting him and Rey trying to still get him into the light. And Luke being the force ghost of Rey.
I think Luke's gonna be a Force Ghost Slut in this. He's gonna be Force ghosting errybody.

Probably. I imagine JJ will do this to maybe appease the Hamill and those that didnt love how luke was handled in this episode.

Isn't it the other way around for "fanboys":

Wouldn't it be the fanboys that tell themselves this is a good movie even though it's not?

I think anyone that takes a movie so fucking personally they would demand it removed from cannon, as if it raped their mother, would be considered a fanboy.

Also, i hate that fucking term.

Did you see the notice sent out to all cinemas I posted? About the sound gap and disappearance for ten seconds?

Yes they had to explain it to cinemas. Ah well.
I didn't, can you post it again?

“Star Wars The Last Jedi contains a sequence at approximately 1:52:00 into the movie in which ALL SOUND STOPS FOR ABOUT 10 FULL SECONDS. Images continue to play onscreen but you will hear nothing. This is intentionally done by the director for a creative effect. Please take note that there is nothing wrong with your DCP or audio system. We wanted to make you aware of this. Thank you for your attention and have a great run on the movie.”

i think the term speaks to a taking of ownership of the property in a personal way

I don’t think the term was a derogatory one to begin with but the toxicity that’s evolved has grown been grafted onto it. All of us are fanbois. None of us are sending Rian Johnson death threats. There’s definitely a gulf of distance between behaviours that the term seems to have come to be an umbrella for. Sadly.

Not in this case. Just like it was the hardcore fanbase that chanted "Lucas raped my childhood!" when the prequels came out. It seems like the most hardcore fans are the ones who are freaking out the most about this.

The Last Jedi is a direct, not-even-slightly subtle message to hardcore, original trilogy-obsessed fans like myself that Star Wars is more than those three movies (or the three prequels that served as one long, terrible prologue to them). It completely resets the battle between good and evil, putting good in more dire straits than we’ve ever seen in these films. It introduces several brand new Force powers. It expands the universe in ways no one expected (or in ways purists like me wanted). And it removes the old heroes to fully make way for the new.

It proclaims boldly it’s time for a truly new Star Wars saga, for a new generation of kids to fall in love with, just like I did. That Star Wars can be more, should be more, than the original trilogy and its prologues and epilogues. That the franchise belongs to more than just those born in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. That it’s time for me, like Rey, to let go of the past. It has been that time for awhile now.

This is all exactly how it’s supposed to be. The franchise needs to do more than just ape the original trilogy in order to evolve, if not outright continue. I shouldn’t be holding Star Wars hostage. Lucasfilm and Disney shouldn’t be making these movies just for me. They can’t if they expect to continue for the next decade. And god knows I’ll get to experience plenty more of the adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han for decades to come. As long as I and my ilk keep spending money on them, someone will keep churning out ancillary Star Wars products targeted to our nostalgia.

I totally agree with that third paragraph. But just to be clear, I will defend those that also agree with that sentiment but also did not like the movie. It's entirely possible to want new things from Star Wars and to be upset with what you got in The Last Jedi. It's not just one or the other.

Exactly. I have no problem with the overall story or direction they are taking things, such as the Jedi as it relates to Skywalker, etc. I just think this film missed the mark on telling some of that is all.

Yes, it's perfectly possible to like new Star Wars (ROTS, Clone Wars, Rebels, TFA, Rogue One), and still have issues with TLJ. Obviously they will take the franchise in new directions, and hopefully the best is yet to come.

I'm bummed that you didn't like it more (because I loved being able to gush over Rogue One with you and wanted to continue that) but I totally understand where you're coming from.
