I think in the excitement of hearing new songs it initially gets lost just how low quality the leak is (still appreciated!). But upon multiple listens it becomes harder to listen to imo.
This. I was fortunate to make the record store listening event today and then tried listening to the leak afterwards and couldn’t make it through 15 seconds of SOF. Don’t want to ruin the good first impression I have in my head until Tuesday.

WON'T TELL.

This is the band not being pretentious, just letting it go, having fun.

I'm crying tears of joy hearing this.

YES.

Eddie nails it, and Jeff drives the song like a boss.

Love it, love it, love it.

So has it leaked or are the listening party bros just sharing what they remember?

DM kind of works as a single, tbh.

Running does not.

WTF?

Where are they going at the end of Upper Hand?

Totally unexpected, cool. Was loving the softer approach, though.

Dark Matter is a good first single.

Running and Something Special are the two worst tracks on the album, in my opinion.

Wreckage would've been a "safe" single but I'm glad they didn't use it. PJ haven't really ever played safe on their singles.

Got To Give is the most "easy listening" song, joyful, but one of the best.

I went to a record store 90 minutes from my house to listen. It might have been the saddest little setup ever. The whole thing was tucked away in the corner of the store, but just close enough to an exit door that dinged when opened. One of the clerks announced that they would start the record at 4p, then hit play on an iphone/ipod moments later. Even though the speakers were directly above my head it was hard to hear because the clerk barely turned up the volume. It was a challenge between the door opening and the white noise/talking of the other patrons.

Now I know there's already been a ton of activity and accounts from other RMers and their experience, some I've read and some I've missed.

First impressions for me...I liked it. It's a very poppy record, but there are some good things. I felt like the middle of the album was the strongest - at least the run of Won't Tell, Upper Hand, and WFS. Scared of Fear sounded like a decent opener, and Wreckage was much better than the clip.

I also remember liking Got to Give and Setting Sun, which sounds like it'll be one of the better closers they've done.

The only dud - for me - is Something Special. I just don't like it.

The begining of WFS brings Breath to my head instantly.

Crying again, my friends.

And I'm one minute into the song.

Dark Matter works, Running does not...

React/Respond is just fire but not sure about a single.

Wreckage for sure.

Waiting for Stevie is too long for a single but it would have killed in 93. That last minute is straight 10/Vs era Pearl Jam, and all the proof we need that they can still deliver like that.

Upper Hand feels like something but I'm not sure if it'd play. It's like Yellow Ledbetter and Hard to Imagine had a baby.
