i keep recording movies and never watching them...which of the below should i view this evening:

the deer hunter
e.t.
the thin red line
her
heat

heat and the thin red line are the only ones of the above i've seen before

Deer Hunter is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's a goddamn masterpiece.

But take that with a grain of salt because I hated The Thin Red Line and thought Heat was fine, but fairly forgettable. And I know that makes me an asshole to most cinephiles.

Also, I watched Necessary Roughness last night. I haven't seen that in over a decade. Still had a blast. I just love that stupid little movie.

I've been leaning toward deer hunter...it's one of those i always think i need to watch, but forget to pursue it

my first viewing of heat elicited the same reaction as you, though i wanted to give it another try...i did like the thin red linee

Anything except Her. The others are all among the best movies ever made. You've got some good watching ahead of you.
