But, the online snark and pissy reactions are already so tired.

Sets a pretty high bar for the series that someone's first reaction to that episode was negative.

beautifully shot, great direction, compelling visually, and i enjoyed the episode overall

however...the plot is such trite schlock at this point that nothing really lands anymore. all the heroes showing up at exaaaactly the right moment and only minor characters biting it and all these deus ex machinas have really lowered the stakes and made the story feel predictable and cheap. how many times can you show a dozen wights crawling on brienne or jaime or grey worm or sam (SAM ffs!) and not have one of them die? it's just fan service now.

i hope GRRM has something better in mind

I would’ve put ten grand on Grey Worm dying if I was a betting man. Luckily I am not.

GRRM has said his ending is "bittersweet," and assuming the showrunners remain faithful to his vision, I think tonight would qualify as the "sweet." I wonder whether having Cersei defeat the north and remain on the throne would be too "bitter" at this point?
