My take is that most Trump people are gung.ho. about answering polling questions whereas those nontrump are not soSimple Torture wrote:Having one final anxiety-fueled convo with my wife before bed, we wondered: Trump and his team have been throwing so much energy into twisting the narrative about Pennsylvania, it would certainly be something if Florida was a clear win for Biden early and Pennsylvania didn't even matter (and would be a twisted mirror of 2016 when Clinton assumed a greater strength in the Midwest and it bit her in the rear).

Looks like we were just shy of 100M early votes, but o don’t think all states release the counts

I've already voted but I circled by my polling place on the way into work. Five minutes before it was open there was a line of maybe 25 people. I'll do the same on the way home tonight; I'm curious of how the line will compare.

Re: Election 2020
I drive past a couple polling places to and from work each day and they were mobbed every single day of early voting so I'm expecting huge Broward County turnout based on my very anecdotal experience and I'm drawing all of the conclusions.Biff Pocoroba wrote:I've already voted but I circled by my polling place on the way into work. We're going to see a concerted effort by news outlets tonight to convince people that Biden has it wrapped up even if it isn't official yet.Chris_H_2 wrote:So what’s the over/under when we have a called winner?

Re: Election 2020
There was an excellent episode of the podcast The Daily last week that went back and examined the bungled 2000 election and the networks’ race to be the first to declare a winner, prompting them to prematurely call Florida for Gore while polls in the mostly Republican panhandle were still open. The conclusion was that we still haven’t learned our lesson.4/5 wrote:We're going to see a concerted effort by news outlets tonight to convince people that Biden has it wrapped up even if it isn't official yet.Chris_H_2 wrote:So what’s the over/under when we have a called winner?

Networks have never been a good source for news or insight. The need for competitive drama is just too high on tv.

I think this time it'll be less about the race to be first and more about trying to have a firmly established narrative in place that a Biden win is inevitable to counter whatever Trump says.

Re: Election 2020
I have to drive 10 min round trip when my wife gets home this afternoon in order to vote. Here in MO, the odds of my vote contributing to a Biden win are so low, I’m considering just staying home. But it would be nice to vote for the first time in my life, just to say I did my part to get Satan out of office. I’ll probably go.

There are more things than just the president to vote for here in the Show Me State.tree_ wrote:I have to drive 10 min round trip when my wife gets home this afternoon in order to vote.
