Guitars sound way more interesting than that.
I started to regret listening to it when I heard how crappy the sound was but I'm glad I did. Sounds VERY interesting. Can't wait to hear the clean version in a few hours!!

I almost feel shitty for posting that, seeing as the poor quality... It's not mine BTW, purely found the link on You Tube when I'd heard "It dropped!"
Potential there for sure. It's Comatosey/Brain of J but the chorus/solo/bridge is better than Comatose

The bridge is VERY Husker Du. That may be my favorite part. Sounds like something out of New Day Rising.

Few melodies in there that are reminiscent of ""My baby" from Tres Mts

I meant because everybody was so excited about Pearl Jam trying something so new and different and heavy when we heard that 10-second GSMF clip, and then the song turned out sounding just okay.
i absolutely love GSMF. it's my favorite off Backspacer.
I like it too. I'm talking about the general board consensus, though, and how those initial 10 seconds pointed at something different than what the finished product ended up being.
ah gotcha - i don't really remember the general board consensus though. if anything for me, the song turned out to be better than what the preview hinted about. a phenomenom that seldom occured with the Backspacer previews.

I thought you said it was dull and generic. You think the rest is worse than that?
I think the rest is more in line with the kind of song that you'd expect from latter-day PJ.
OK. Personally I think it sounds like a distillation of some styles they've played with before, in a tighter pop song. But heavy. I'm happy with all of that. My problem with Backspacer wasn't that it was full of 3 minute pop songs, just that it wasn't full of very good ones and there was no aggression. Some of the musical parts sound interesting here, but I thought the same of Ole. Hopefully nothing lets me down and takes away from whatever OK/good stuff we have, like it did with that song.

I will say, having moved to Liverpool from New Jersey a couple years ago, the variety in my swearing has certainly exceeded my flippin' expectations. Yay!

I always thought STBC sounded like Motorhead anyway. That's far from a new influence in their sound and doesn't show their age.
