When asked my opinion of MYM by a mate we got on to Ole and OTE (all 3 he hadn't heard till then). It dawned on me that if all 3 are on the album then I may only like 9 tracks at most. All 3 of those tracks are mediocre. I eagerly await LB correcting my arse.

Ole won't be on it, I don't think. It sounds too much like a blueprint of this. MYM sounds like what it became after the South America shows, maybe. I like OTE so I'd be OK with that.

I think (total conjecture here) that the only thing keeping Of The Earth off Lightning Bolt would be lyrical content. To me, when I hear the live versions, Ed seems less confident than usual about the words. They seem like placeholder lines, many of them, at best. If Ed's found something to say, I expect it to be on the album.
But I'd be okay without it, too. Someday, I'd like a proper studio version. Even if its just b-side or a Lost Dogs 2 kinda thing.

Im kinda hoping of the earth gets a studio release at some point, but it would be great if its released as a b side of the next single

Ole was released. It was a b side without an a side, a song they wrote and wanted to play and share, but once it was out that ended its chances of being on a record. I would have been shocked if it ended up on lightning bolt, and that is before I even heard mym

Yep.
Though, I prefer to think of Ole as an A side without a B side.

If they put Olé in this album then they dont really care anymore. Why release it on a proper studio album intended for new songs? I want Olé to be on a single with Of the earth as the A side.

Yeah I don't think they'll put it on the album either. I guess my lost/unsaid point is that the last 3 PJ songs to surface have not really worked for me.

They could put OTE on the album and it'd be nothing they haven't done before. That said, it would be nice to have not heard any of the 11 songs. I just don't want to hate any of them, and having OTE on there would mean one less song to detest. I don't want another Supersonic. Who was it who mentioned placeholder lines? Sheesh.

I guess I'm fortunate to be in the opposite camp. I've liked all three quite a bit. Especially Mind Your Manners which has really taken me by storm. But I was huge defender of Ole when it first came out. Still am. I love that quirky little dude.

Of the earth is really nice song, i want them to release the proper studio take. Maybe as a single. Im not sure it would bother me to see in the new record. Actually not at all.
Olé was something they had from BS and they release it online...it would be a wrong move to put it in the album.
Still, i think it could be nice to have it as christmas single maybe. I dont enjoy it very much though.

I did not like ole, but it had elements I liked.
One of the things that is nice about releasing a second song with the single is that it gives you more than one song to pin your expectations on.
Don't like stbc? How about tremor Christ. Don't like nais? What about insignificance. Wws and unemployable. Gtf and Pilate. Supersonic was. Poor pairing with fixer, though

True.
Although i prefer a proper b side with a single, not another song from the album im getting anyway.
