- Spoiler: show
- once the mexican doesnt shoot her, the movie falls itself into an awful finale
It was very emotional for me. I very much cared about the girl and her father. And that colonel sure got what he deserved. It is very satisfying. Very.

Saw this over the weekend. It was certainly PTA's most accessible film. Some really great performances. I'm a sucker for any role that has Leo showcasing his physical comedy.
I haven't consumed any breakdown and theories, but it seems like it's a story about finding community. Each character is seeking or trying to maintain theirs in some way or another. It's a nice bit of subtle storytelling that the most stable communities seem to be on the far extremes (the Christmas group and the asylum city's "Harriet Tubman underground thing").

finally watched this last night. might be my favorite PTA, though I’ve only seen about a handful. I thought the pace was great.
Agree with M_D’s take about people trying to preserve their communities, no matter how bizarre - I’m looking at you, Christmas Adventurers.
I liked all the performances too. Might have to rewatch this one.

One Battle…
Finally saw it. It was…fine. I’ve seen it referred to as a dark comedy. I missed all the funny parts, I guess. Was it the way Sean Penn walked and combed his hair? Was it Leo’s “iconic” Mexican whistle or the way he fumbled with a curtain rod? Irreverent! I don’t watch a lot of movies, and I’m sure film buffs would say I just don’t get it, but I think it’s fair to say this movie is overrated. Again, it’s fine, but when I read, “best film of the last ten years,” I think that’s crazy.
