And 2LP is a very good thing.
I wouldn't be surprised if side 4 is some Yield etching or dead wax, but even at 3 sides would mean more space between the grooves.
New mix, new pressing plates, and if it's the "inaugural pressing for VMP's new audiophile grade pressing plant" I would assume a whole lotta eyes on the manufacturing or it.

Would someone explain why 2LPs are a good thing?

As the stylus gets closer to the center of a record, it loses its ability to cleanly track the record grooves. It becomes more difficult if there's excessive bass. As you begin to surpass 22 mins of music on a single side of vinyl, you run into tradeoffs where you're either having to:

A) do nothing to the mastering and assume the stylus will start distorting or maybe even skipping
B) cut some of the low end to limit distortion/skipping
C) excessively compress the sound so that you can maintain the preferred low end, but at a lower dynamic range so as to still limit distortion/skipping

So by spreading the music across more sides, you're not forced to make those sonic tradeoffs. Instead, you have to pay more money, and flip the record more often. If you're an audiophile it's worth it; if you're not, it's probably not.

Some are saying there's a missed opportunity in not making this a 45 rpm release, since they have the extra real estate. I've had very mixed results with 45 rpm 12" records, so I'm swiss on that one.
