Somehow, in the last 5 years the B's and Pens have avoided each other in the postseason. I cant wait to start hating all these Penguins players with a passion.

Penalty yes. Thrown out? When the opposing coach even says his own player put himself in a vulnerable position.....

This series has the very real possibility of being like last year's Pens-Flyers series, except without the horrible goaltending

Yeah, because you know all about getting your team to the Stanley Cup.
I trim my beard and the Sabres' defense succumbs to a rash of freak injuries in the conference finals. Proof.

Now there's the stupid peeps post I knew I would find. Was it boarding? Yes. Was it equal to riding a guy into the boards? Nope, that hit was just a typical boarding penalty. What Cooke did was something worse. Now, the Cooke ejection was not what I would have expected, but I didn't mind seeing it.

and I loved Malkin and Crosby poking the bear to end the 2nd. That worked out great!!

your own coach even said mcquaid put himself in a vulnerable position, there were only two differences between the hits.
cooke and it wasnt the endboards

Difference number three: Cooke was on Mcquaid's back all the way to the boards.
Despite what you feel Julien is admitting in his statement, the league has put it on the player delivering the hit to recognize their opponents "vulnerable position."

Difference number four: You can break your neck getting hit into the end boards.
Just because a guy puts himself in a vulnerable position doesn't mean it's open season on him.

Cooke's hit shouldn't have been five and a game, but hey, it's Matt Cooke, so fuck him...Marchand's hit was boarding but was not the same thing as Cooke's hit...point being neither deserved anything more than a 2 minute minor
Pittsburgh had chances, they didn't bury them...and for anyone who wants to bring up "posts" or "iron", you know what it means when you hit the post or the crossbar don't you? You missed the f'ing net!

Claude's comments were diplomatic in the heat of battle...don't read too much into them.
Both penalties were correct. It's amazing that Pitt has arguably the most dangerous, dirty player in the league on its team, yet Crosby and management continue to bitch about dirty hits. Just accept that your team is dirty and play on. This is not a complicated subject.
And I don't care if you play dirty....I just don't like hypocrites.
Pens are a better team. They should have won last night's game, 5-3. B's allowed way too many rushes. Gotta play better to survive what I expect to be a Game 2 offensive onslaught from Pens.

If Cooke is involved with anything that even smells like a dirty hit, he gets NO benefit of the doubt, and that's the way it should be. This guy is about as dirty a player as you'll find in the NHL, and since he's out there night after night trying to end player's careers(and their quality of life in some cases) he shouldnt get cut any slack when he does anything remotely questionable.

“I think it was just hard to gauge. Interference calls [made] where you barely catch a guy, and then you’re allowing punches to the head and extra stuff. It’s hard to get a gauge as a player."
oh, Sid, such a kidder... "barely catch a guy." HA, that's a good one. i don't know what coach is referring to specifically, but i'm thinking he's just as tired as everyone else with Pitt's whining.

Cooke is a huge piece of shit. Marchand is a big piece of shit. Who cares who was worse? they're both pieces of shit that do stupid things that can lead to injuries to other players.
