WSJ says covid could cost 5 million American jobs to be lost. That number actually feels low. :(

Of the more than 1.5 million people who work in the state’s restaurant and hotel industry, only between 200,000 to 400,000 are still employed

hm. hopefully he doesnt just save his own

there need to be restaurants and hotels still standing when the virus abates so there are places to go to generate economic activity

if they all just fucking fail and the virus passes there will still be weak growth because there won't be companies alive to employ people or where people can spend money

and the banks will probably be stingy on lending to new enterprises

this stimulus needs to go directly to small and medium size business to stay afloat so once everyone is released from their lockdown the pent up demand can be released somewhere

it's gonna be so fucked dude

Citi estimating as high as 4 million unemployment claims in one week. Goldman Sachs says 2.25 million. Previous high was 695,000 in 1982.

How the fucking government can order entire sectors of the economy to close but not have a safety net plan ready in lock-step with that order.

Complete catastrophe.

And three or four months of that? No one will ever work again

I understand this is rhetorical, but keep in mind this is an entirely new event in history we are living through. No plan is gonna cover this.
