Pretty sure it was supposed to be a bad ass no look head chop since Mace grew up playing pick up sword fights in the streets he went for flash over proper mechanics.

Disney's last 4 animated features (Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen) have been pretty damn good. Problem is they put out so much other schlock that kinda gets lost.

Planes was done by DisneyToon Studios, which does direct-to-video movies, but Lasseter loves those goddamn Cars movies, so it was released in theaters.
