most people that OD'd a bunch of times and were homeless don't tend to look back fondly on those times.

I was talking about the music. I saw interviews with him really talking shit about the music and the band. Not about his homeless years.

Apparently the new album has leaked, but I've yet to find it. If anyone can help a brother out I'd be eternally grateful

fair enough, but i think his personal life probably had a play in not liking that period too much. His working dynamic with the brothers also seems to very dysfunctional. On twitter recently both him and GLC noted that a reunion is out of the question but they seem to be ok on a personal level now anyway.

New one is out. I was really busy so i just listened to the first half. Nothing quite grabbed me yet but im listening the second half and these two songs are quite good.

Just finished another listen. Yeah, the first half is pretty boring, with only a few standouts but the second half is surprisingly better. Its still a let down for me, because i loved Gargoyle and i was expecting another approach.

Brilliant!
BTW, wasn't thrilled with the new album after a first listen, but after the first week it grew tremendously on me. There's really only one or two weak links (Stitch It Up, She Loved You) on an otherwise outstanding effort. Penthouse High is pure electric sex gold.

Those were my least liked ones as well, but they grew on me as the whole album grew on me.

Just came back from his Amsterdam show, it was awesome! The new songs sounded great live!!!
This record is his best since Blues Funeral! Even more excited about his upcoming record:
The album will be a companion piece to my memoir, so there will be a bunch of acoustic songs on it that sound like the old way that I used to make records. It’s the first time that I’m actually writing songs about specific events because all the songs are linked to the book.
...
The best thing that I got out of it was all of these new songs. I started writing these songs as soon as I was done with the book, and this collection of songs sort of have a depth to them that a lot of my music hasn’t had because that’s not the way I usually write. So the payoff was these songs, because I think the record that I’m finishing now is one of the better ones I’ve made.
...
Greg? is on that,
Jack Irons, Martyn LeNoble, Ed Harcourt plays piano on a lot of it, Jack Bates (bass player of Smashing Pumpkins),
Warren Ellis of the Bad Seeds plays violin, Adrian Utley of Portishead, and even
John Paul Jones plays mellotron on something. The record is called Straight Songs of Sorrow and it just has a ton of famous people.

This would change daily, but i'd say something like this.
Bubblegum/HCTWC
Field Songs
Blues Funeral
Whiskey for the holy ghost
Scraps at Midnight
Somebody's Knocking
Phantom Radio/NBOS
Houston
The Winding Sheet
Gargoyle

Yeah this is really tough:
Whiskey for the Holy Ghost
Bubblegum/Weird Chill
Field Songs
Scraps (Wheels is one of the best songs ever recorded)
Blues Funeral
Houston
Somebody's Knocking
Winding Sheet
Phantom Radio/No Bells
Gargoyle
I'd like to caveat that I still felt Gargoyle was a strong album, just probably gets the least play in my rotation. To his credit there are no 'bad' or even 'weak' albums IMO. The flow of Phantom and Gargoyle were just a bit scattered/jarring at times.

3-Whiskey for the Holy Ghost
4-Houston
5-Gargoyle
6-Field Songs
7-Scraps at midnight
8-Somebody´s knocking
9-Winding Sheet
10-Phantom Radio
