Though it's entirely dependent on who they choose, I'm relatively open-minded on the idea of STP with a new singer. On my recent thorough revisiting of the band's records, Scott's vocals and lyrics were quite often something I felt I had to listen past or consciously make allowances for. He had a really strong voice but I don't feel he very often transcended 'rock star lead vocalist' stock cliches, his voice doesn't carry the kind of gravitas of someone like Vedder, Cobain or Staley. The DeLeo brothers and the drummer guy wrote some really killer songs, however.

Is that Talk Show album any good? I've been hoping to pick up a cheap copy soon to see how much I really would enjoy a Weiland-less STP in practice.

It's basically a more poppy STP with a guy who's doing his best Scott impression. Not horrible, but not something that made Scott quake in his boots about being replaced.

It's weird, and I don't really have a rational explanation for it, but there's something about Scott I find kind of unsavoury and it makes it difficult for me to warm to him as a vocalist. It's not fair but I can't get away from it.

Though that video was jumpy for me, the song above actually sounds great. If they can do something like that with a new singer, I'd be all ears.

Galoshes is really good. Most of the songs would be universally praised if they belong in an eddie vedder solo album.

The other night I re-watched STP's recorded show from the Riviera Theatre in Chicago from the 2010 tour. That was my 3rd or 4th time seeing them. I didn't remember much from the show. But after watching it, I was shocked at just how good Scott sounded. Man I'm gonna miss this band.

I just barely remember seeing these guys open a show for the Foo Fighters in some small club in Montreal....probably late 1997 or early 98? Good show!
