I said it several times already and now it's essentially confirmed about SBM - what a waste of precious real estate. Would kill for a song we've never heard before instead. It just makes zero fucking sense.

I'm not really sure why that song gets the acclaim it does. I mean, it's nice, I guess, but it's kind of dull and has nothing on the two songs that precede and follow it on Uke Songs.

He was a session drummer and got named director of the music school. He's making WAY more money now.

You're right. I made the whole thing up.

All of my drum teachers made good money out of session musicianship, for both small-time and professional bands and artists. They taught on the side. It's a difficult job to get into but most of them choose to be session musicians. The impression I got was that you don't stick with one artist if you want to have the best chance at a career.

He teaches at Old Town School of Folk Music here in Chicago, which is pretty famous for some of the artists affiliated with the school. Jeff Tweedy plays an ensemble every year with a bunch of musicians, and Bob Mould usually does a thing or two a year with it. About 10 years ago, he got named head of percussion curriculum for the school, and now does private lessions. http://www.oldtownschool.org/teachers/David-Sims/ My 5-year-old loves him. That is a big issue, especially considering this one sounds like its mostly the same, only worse. Its a total waste of space.

I love the song, even if I would've picked another one for PJ. I'm looking forward to it. But damn it, someone needs to tell me whether it has fiddle and slide guitar and maybe even a mandolin. If so, I'm pretty much sold.

It's slightly frustrating that a lot of people hate it but nobody can articulate why so far. "Because it's on Uke Songs and something better could've replaced it" isn't really a great review of what it actually sounds like.
