gotta laugh at those complaining that it's a remake and too much like ANH/the OT.

Same folks probably complained the prequels didn't feel like Star Wars:)
I'm personally delighted it's feels like the OT. regardless of whatever means used to Conjour up that feeling.

its the one "spoiler" I had going in and quite frankly it didn't bother me in the slightest. Now if Rey doesn't complete her training and goes off to fight Ren before she's a full Jedi, and gets her hand cut off... and Finn gets frozen in something... then we have a problem.

2 other things I noted: (1) at times it was hard to understand Kylo through that voice modulator, and (2) you could definitely tell one of the star destroyers was a model in one of the scene (which was pretty cool).

Thank GOD for the minimal CGI.

Check that... the Energizer commercials gave away the fact that Rey would have Jedi powers. Fuckin' batteries!

Star Wars is largely meant for kids.
When I was six years old I loved the Ewoks and still do.
If I was six when I watched TPM I probably would've loved Jar Jar.

The story is about the search for Luke skywalker. The rest is just set up for that.

That is an original story and nothing like the OT

If you wanna bash Ewoks, it is unbelievable that they could take out a battalion of Stormtroopers. But I love 'em, plus... baby Ewoks

It's also unbelievable that a half-trained Luke could defeat Vader, or a completely untrained Rey could defeat a half-trained Ren.

Also, the more I think about it, the more i really like Kylo Ren as a bad guy. Vader, despite being 2nd or 3rd in charge, kinda just did whatever the hell he wanted. I liked that Kylo had to follow orders, and the rivalry with General Hux. I like that he had equals that he couldnt just force choke. Kind of an Anti-Anakin in that you were watching the light side pulling at him.

Also, I loved the storm troopers turning around when Kylo was going nuts.

Booked in to see this with the lady friend on the 30th. May sneak a viewing in next week once I've left the wilderness though.

In general it was great showing him as wildly unstable. It added a genuine fear of the character, and helped build up the scene with Han nicely.

Word of advice for anyone in the SW universe... never go for a father/son walk on a bridge.
