As we've already covered, the 2014 Pirates finished with the same record as the Giants, so they would've had to have a play-in game anyways. But that's none of my business.Monkey_Driven wrote:I wouldn't call it a travesty, it just cheapens making the playoffs (like the poor Pirates in 2014 and 2015). A one game, winner takes all format doesn't work as well in baseball where a good or bad night by one player can severely impact the game.philpritchard wrote:The AL teams have three days off before the ALDS starts. The NL teams have four. That's plenty of rest.Monkey_Driven wrote:I don't like the one game play in. Should be a best of 3. Give the division winners a chance to rest.
I would like to see a three game series as well, but it doesn't really make much sense, especially since they need a day or two here and there in case of rain-outs or tie-breakers.
A one game play-in is fine to me. I don't get why one team making it and the other team missing entirely is perfectly fine but two teams making it and playing a single game is seen as such a travesty.

Re: MLB
Losing a playoff game that's this close is brutal; much worse than getting blown out. Prayers for whichever city loses.

Come on chud, you're better than that. You know damn well you're not allowed to use your closer in a non-save situation on the road.cutuphalfdead wrote:Why didn't they use Britton?

I hope Showalter doesn't lose his job over this. It was a flub on his part for sure, but I think he's good with the Orioles.
