yeah it was really well critically recieved as far as I saw, a departure in sound for Paramore (arguably) going back to post-punk / new wave styles but it really worked for them

Spotify recommended me this pretty good (if oddly titled) “Dark Academia Jazz” playlist (it’s a Spotify-curated playlist, not user-created), which near the beginning features a track that stuck out as being clearly more recent than everything else; a song called Silent Dreams by The City of Birches:



It’s not bad, actually pretty good: but the band (?) are a total mystery.

The only trace I can find of them on the internet are three individual tracks on Spotify, with a perplexingly huge amount of regular listeners:



For the record, that’s more listeners than Smog, almost six times as many as Nels Cline, and about half as many as Charles Mingus.

Is this some kind of modern payola? But if so, where is the rest of their digital footprint; Facebook, website, Instagram etc?

That's interesting or would have been anyway, I enjoy Raine's vocal style a lot until Gravity. That said, they recently put up acoustic renditions of all the Spiritual Machines tracks and man are they not good.

The first half of the album “Begin to Hope” by Regina Spektor may be the best first half of an album ever. As albums go where the back half is forgettable.

"Après Moi" is probably the best song on that album though

That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Probably thanks to the back half of that album.
