it is.

this is the only song ever where I ever thought (at the start of "round") it to be a perfect place to have a chorus of black lady back up singers. the song would, like, double
I wish they had done that. It would've been hilarious
why?

I can at least admit that Abattoir era Nick Cave would destroy the shit out of this song. The Pearl Jam take was unremarkable.
to gather a remarkable song even from an unremarkable take makes the song remarkable plus? (? or is my math off ?)
Okay song + unremarkable/uninspired arrangement and performance = Pearl Jam
Okay song + fantastic arrangement and performance = Nick Cave

PJ hasn't made anything 'awesome' since Riot Act. I take what I can get. A million artists could do PJ songs better than PJ now; so what? Sigur Ros is better than all of them anyway.

I think pendulum is pretty much at the level they were at with riot act. It wouldn't be one of the best tracks on that album, but it's in it's league. Parachutes is the only other post RA song you could say that about.

I'm constantly accused of going back and forth on my opinions. I don't, but I am capable of holding two opinions in tension. Paradox is a great thing!

I was never crazy about the album in relation to the first seven. What I've always been is pleasantly surprised at how good it is considering their output since 2006. Grading on a curve, people.

It can sometimes read like flip-flopping, but that's the internet for you. Lots of trying to explain feelings in short, punctuative posts, and lots of contextual shifts. Disaster ensues.

I remember when the album first dropped you said something about grading on a curve, then, too...which is why I posted what I did above. Then I think stip asked what I grade on, and I said a knife. It might be the only thing I remember out of all those thousands of pages we filled up.

it would be pretty fun to read through again, but as one who want a fan for a pretty long time, feelings can definitely change. for me riot act was SO good at first just like all of their albums aside from Binaural, but after a few months i kinda got tired of it, i would use some songs in PJ mix cds since i was listening to a ton of stuff that way, but couldnt do the whole album, it just didnt really work for me, but i think within the last year or so i started to revisit it and im finding myself loving a lot of the songs i didnt before, its been a real nice turn around. but saying all that, its still near the bottom of my album rankings
