To me horror and sci fi are the only two genres that showcase originality and creativity, which is vital to my enjoyment of movies.

I was going to say, horror is the most consistently brilliant film genre imo; I never stop finding great ones

Sci fi horror is a cool sub genre. Things like Aliens, Event Horizon, Sunshine, Quiet Place. I tend to like it as long as the horror aspect isn’t too cheesy.

also I think one could call Birth / Rebirth a sci-fi horror, and by all accounts just a really excellent indie drama movie

Everything, Everywhere All At Once, too

Jurassic Park, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Fire in the Sky

honestly I think horror naysayers are just watching shit horror, or just underestimating how expansive it is
