Brees injuring his thumb and requiring surgery is one of the only injuries I can think of that can actually sideline and NFL quarterback.

What happened to him? Collar bone? Broken bones and torn ligaments are the only things a QB should sit out for. Even then, didn't Rivers play the AFC championship with a torn ACL?E.H.
