I'll always prefer non-album second tracks on singles. Always. I'm frequently disappointed when the second track is an album track. Even when it's a great song like Insignificance. I only listened to it once before Binaural came out. Whereas something like Leatherman or Alone or Wash or whatever, I listened to over and over and over and over again. I felt I could really enjoy them and take them in because I knew they weren't album tracks.

But I'm overly precious about a lot of shit.

Mind your arctic monkeys is what I'm now calling this.

I love the new single. I would have been happy with 3 minutes of that opening jam; it's great. This is the first PJ track I've heard that made me think Cameron really is a beast. I think we are reaping the benefits of Cameron's time with Soundgarden. He's on fire, McCready shreds it and Eddie sounds better than expected.

Is matt not unusually restrained on this? It's what the song needs I reckon but he'll probably be all over it, live.

I thought that first, then i realize there are some hidden gems of what he is doing in all the song.
Reminded me of Non State Actor from KA.

Cool. I like this track better than anything off KA.

To me, when I hear the live versions, Ed seems less confident than usual about the words. They seem like placeholder lines, many of them, at best. If Ed's found something to say, I expect it to be on the album.

But I'd be okay without it, too. Someday, I'd like a proper studio version. Even if its just b-side or a Lost Dogs 2 kinda thing.
I think Mike and Ed have suggested in recent interviews that "Of the Earth" probably wouldn't be on the album.

I'm not going to cynically piss on that comment (much) but what makes you say that? I *hoped* we'd be reaping the benefits of Matt having been with Soundgarden, and I still hope we do on the album, but I don't hear that in this song. He's OK.

I'm having trouble believing that's what he's singing there

One of the things that is nice about releasing a second song with the single is that it gives you more than one song to pin your expectations on.

Don't like stbc? How about tremor Christ. Don't like nais? What about insignificance. Wws and unemployable. Gtf and Pilate. Supersonic was. Poor pairing with fixer, though
True.

Although i prefer a proper b side with a single, not another song from the album im getting anyway.
oh, me too. Especially after the fact.

Wonder if they'll do a tv show between now and album release?
Fallon? Letterman?

It'll be one of those ones where the lyric sheet has a different lyric. Or he fills in the gap
