It's simple, you said it wasn't a radio album. Which automatically means that the reason you think RA has better songs is because they don't play it on the radio! I like Backspacer more than Riot Act.
I think the songs are higher quality on Riot Act ( technique, craft, depth)
I just happen to enjoy the upbeat and poppy nature of Backspacer in this case.
I can recognize quality even if I don't enjoy the end product that much. I recognize $5 pizzas are trash in comparison to a $15 Hungry Howies pizza but I usually prefer them for the cost/convenience.
Nowhere am I implying any of the nonsense you are saying I am.

Thejambi wrote:[Backspacer had the shit promoted out of it with 2 radio "hits". Much , much, much more so than Riot Act. Doesn't not mean it ranks higher than RA except for success. .
IlluminEddie wrote: So, you're saying Riot Act didn't have any hits? I agree. That could be one reason it sucks.
First, we were discussing sales as a proxy for ranking albums. He thought it wasn't a good one and I asked to suggest better. I said a survey would probably best. There was no response to that, but then (as one can see above) it was implied that the only reason Backspacer had better sales was because of “hits”. I responded that yeh - RA didn’t have any hits. Then somehow the quality factor was brought into play, he claimed the quality was better on RA.Thejambi wrote:I am not a Riot Act fan . It is not a radio album. I like Backspacer better but I'd have to say the quality of the songs on RA are better.
