If listening to uninspired drivel like "Get Right" and "Half-Full" gets you excited, there's nothing I can do for you. And as for the lyrics, I would be more fond of them if Ed hadn't lifted like 1/2 of them directly from Ishmael and A People's History of the United States.

I will never, ever understand the love some of you have for that album. Is it a good listen? Sure. Does it even compare to the six albums that preceded it? No. Not even close.

This also applies to their respective album tours. 2006 is so much better than 2003 it isn't even funny.

That's because they took the time to actually LEARN Why Go before playing it onstage again.

Agree.

The 05 and 06 tours were so much better than 03 and 04.

I have never disagreed with a post more than I disagree with this post. Even that hypen between "Half" and "Full" is a fucking atrocity.

I think I like Avocado even less because of this post.

I think the song on riot act I'm most excited for these days is Get Right

Ghost is the one that i appreciate more these days. Maybe because i saw it live....But Get Right is still a bore for me, shame because Mike play a really cool solo there.

I fully expect Backspacer to rise in the ranks the day the next album drops.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not...

I think Leash absolutely SUCKS. Like, it has no right to be on Vs which is an otherwise stellar record. It actually brings the record down a few notches just from its inclusion. Trite lyrics, boring music, uninspired vocals from Ed in my opinion.

I'm comfortable saying its the worst Ed-sung PJ song in the catalogue. I'm also mortified that there was actually something of a 'movement' to get this song back in rotation at the live shows. I think it took more guts to take it out of the shows after 1995. I'm sad that the band caved and brought it back.

Leash definitely sucks. Those lyrics would be laughable if they were written by a 16 year old, let alone someone who was nearly 30.

Leash does kinda suck, but it's pretty much all on the lyrics, the music and vocals are pretty great.

if
"i am lost, i'm no guide, but i'm by your side"
or
"will myself to find a home, a home within myself, we will find a way, we will find our place"
was on No Code you dorks would be fawning all over it.

The lyrics are fine. The music is fine. The song is fine.

Team Burt.

However, the song has lost potency over the years. As I've gotten older the song has resonated less. But it's a song for disenfranchised youth. So, that makes total sense. I have no problem with Leash and really don't understand the hate people have for it.

It is, quite literally, fine.

The first one is an okay line. The second line, if on No Code, would likely be recast as philosophical hoo-hah, and would be criticized like people currently criticize "I'm Open."
